Coronavirus news live updates: India saw its biggest drop in weekly Covid-19 cases in nearly two months, with infections declining 13.6% last week, despite testing peaking during that time in because of the festivals. The country reported just over 2.2 lakh of new cases between August 16 and 22, compared to 2,55,819 in the previous seven days. It was the first double-digit drop in weekly cases since the weeks of June 28 to July 4, when the number fell 11.4%.

The government of Tamil Nadu said over the weekend that it will offer 24-hour vaccination services in colleges and public hospitals starting next week for the benefit of those who cannot take the Covid-19 vaccines at their convenience.

Speaking at a launch, Health and Family Minister Ma Subramanain said vaccines will be provided around the clock at this center and those who wish to receive the vaccines should provide proof of identity. “After the tests, individuals will be vaccinated. Those who go out of town and employees can use this service, ”he told reporters.
