Developed by the Mahindra North American Development Center in Troy, Michigan, the future Mahindra U321 minivan will be available in 7-seater and 8-seater configurations. It will be seen with a large grille, swept back headlights and projector lamps. It rests on new alloy wheels and receives vertically stacked tail lights.
The interiors will be seen in a two-tone color scheme while the dashboard will be black piano. Infotainment will be via a central touchscreen infotainment system positioned buttons and dials on its sides. Its interiors will also receive a three-spoke steering wheel, large AC vents and a group of two-pod instruments. ABS, EBS, airbags and traction control will be part of its safety features.
Reports suggest that it could be the much-needed 1.6-liter mFalcon diesel engine. This engine is expected to deliver 125 horsepower and 305 Nm of torque. It could also be powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine capable of delivering 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Both engines will be coupled to a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox. A festive launch by October-November 2018 is on the cards while prices should be at Rs 12 lakhs at Rs 15 lakhs .
