With more incidence of dengue in June, the GVMC is about to take a number of steps to prevent malaria and dengue fever.
According to Municipal Commissioner Hari Narayanan, 701 cases of dengue fever were reported in June 2018 alone, 220 were reported probably due to early rains.
In 2017, 728 cases of malaria were reported and until June of this year 158 while the incidence of chikun gunya was 52 and 14 respectively.
The GVMC, together with the District Malaria Department, has initiated surveillance measures by deploying some 500 seasonal field workers, the Commissioner for Journalists said.
