Banks Board Bureau (BBB) has recommended names of 14 people to the Government of India for the position of Director General and Director General of Public Sector Banks.
He also recommended the name of Anshula Kant, SBI's Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Director General, for the position of Managing Director of the country's largest lender.
Currently, these candidates hold the position of executive director of public sector banks or deputy chief executive of the State Bank of India.
Among the names approved by the panel are six Deputy Directors General of the SBI – Padmaja Chunduru, Karnam Sekar, Mrutyunjay Mahapatra, Pallav Mohapatra, J Packirisamy and CV Nageswar
In addition, the names of Gopal Murli Bhagat (ED Corporation Bank), PV Bharathi (Bank ED Canara), Atul Kumar Goel (Bank Union of India ED), S Harisankar (Bank ED Allahabad), Ashok Kumar Pradhan (United Bank of India ED) and CH SS Mallikarjuna Rao ( ED Syndicate Bank) are listed in the list of recommended bankers.
The panel (BBB) is headed by the former Personnel Department and Training Secretary BP Sharma. "These recommendations are based on interactions held by the Office of the Council of Banks and are subject to various authorizations," said Bureau in a statement posted on its website
