Surface Lite details: OG surface returns with Pentium on the inside

Microsoft may have removed the Surface Phone from the beginning, but it has not been done with the Surface brand yet. Almost unexpectedly, rumors of a smaller and cheaper Surface 2-in-1 tablet began to circulate, perhaps to spread the tension around the stillborn foldable device. But if you were waiting for an iPad killer, you can continue to wait because it is certainly not the case yet.

Of course, according to rumors of a $ 400 price and a FCC rating of a 24-watt power supply, you may pretty much have the impression that this is going to be a step away from the current Surface Pro. But considering the reputation of the line of the device, you could still be a little disappointed with the details that WinFuture could find.

This "Lite" surface is expected to have a 10-inch screen of unknown resolution as the first Surface tablet. In contrast, however, Microsoft ignores ARM for Intel. Not a powerful Intel latest generation processor, the spirit. Not even a Core m. Instead, the Surface Lite will be supposed to go with a low energy consumption line that can do some crunching: Pentium.

Granted, it will not be your Pentium factory run. There will be a choice between a Gemini Lake N5000 Silver Pentium, Kaby Lake Pentium Gold 4410Y, and a Pentium Gold 4415Y. These consume more power in exchange for more muscle processing and will naturally cost more. They can also be paired with 4 or 8GB of RAM

These may not be rebaduring specifications in 2018 and almost seem like a palliative while Microsoft is putting in the # Order in his affairs. Windows 10 on ARM has not yet reached its promised potential but the market for cheaper tablets, especially in schools, is starting to grow. A Surface Lite would attempt to fill this gap, offering a smaller and cheaper device with the flexibility of a complete Windows 10 system.
