Yet in the early stages of the test, the Tata 45X premium sedan made its world debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. It should be launched a little later next year, just before the end of the year holidays.
The new Tata car is exclusively designed to compete with Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20. These two cars alone manage to record sales in the order of 25,000 units per month. Tata aims to launch a car that will not only be better than these two in performance and features, but also in the space.
The exteriors of the new Tata car present a futuristic position with pronounced body lines. and B pillars, a rising shoulder and a roofline sloping towards the back with a raked rear windshield. The 45X also gets a slim grille, LED headlights and flared wheel arches.
It follows the Impact 2.0 design language that will be used by Tata Motors on all its future models, including the new Tata Harrier. The 45X tailgate will be positioned on an Advanced Modular Platform (AMP).
The 45X will share some interiors with the Nexon. It will benefit from an embedded Harmon infotainment system with backup camera and navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, dual airbags and ABS.
Speaking of engine options, expect the 45X to be powered by the same petrol and diesel engine options on board the Nexon. They are Revotron 1.2 liter petrol mills and 1.5 liter Revotorq diesel mills. The petrol engine is rated at 110 PS / 170 Nm while the diesel engine is rated at 110 PS / 260 Nm.
The proposed transmission options are manual and automatic AMTs. More details will be revealed once the car is launched next year. Have a look at the 45X concept in pictures below:
