Samsung has officially announced the very first 8GB LPDDR5 DRAM for smartphones today. Being the first to bring the 8GB LPDDR4 chip to mbad production in 2014, it's no surprise that Samsung has achieved this feat.

Samsung states in a post blog that the transition to LPDDR5 will dramatically improve future mobile applications powered by 5G and AI and will a big step forward for low power mobile memory solutions.
Samsung's 8GB LPDDR5 rate of up to 6,400 MB / s, which is 1.5 times faster than the mobile DRAM chips used in today's flagship mobile devices (LPDDR4X, 4266 MB / s ). With the increase of the transfer rate, the new LPDDR5 can send 51.2 GB of data, about 14 full-HD video files (3.7 GB each), in one second
The Korean giant in the blog also mentioned that the DRAM LPDDR5 will be available in two bandwidths – 6,400 MB / s at a service voltage of 1.1 (V) and 5,500 MB / s at 1,05 V.
Samsung was able to get better results by doubling the number of memory subdivisions in a DRAM The new memory is therefore able to achieve a much higher speed while reducing power consumption.
With mbad production coming soon, we could be very sure to see Samsung's new flagship Samsung Galaxy S10 DRAM
