The strike began on July 20, just days after Amazon.com Inc. and Flipkart concluded their annual sale.
The truckers' strike in India disrupted production and sales of vehicles in the country, as well as exports. in losses for automakers, an industry body said Friday. The Society of Indian Automakers (SIAM) said its members were facing an "unprecedented crisis" as the strike affected the movement of vehicles and components.
"Many national consignments are held back on the roads, which disrupted supply SIAM's deputy general manager, Sugato Sen, said in a statement
that the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC), a carrier organization that staged the strike, is demanding a reduction in federal and state diesel taxes by bringing fuel into the scope of the National Goods and Services Tax (GST).
