Four patients with end stage renal failure have regained life after receiving the kidneys of two men who died of cardiac arrest in a hospital here.
Paramjit Singh (45), a resident of Mohali village, Jatot was fatally wounded after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the road. He was admitted to PGIMER in an extremely critical condition, said Friday Dr. Ashish Sharma, head of the hospital's kidney transplant surgery department.
After struggling for 10 days, Paramjit died of cardiac arrest on October 22nd. Given the prognosis, his wife, Jaswinder Kaur, had already agreed to donate his organs, he added.
Paramjit kidneys have been beneficial for two long-term renal patients who have been on the waiting list and undergoing painful dialysis, Dr. Sharma said. in a statement.
The second man's kidneys put an end to the suffering of two other patients with kidney failure.
Recently, Mukhtiar Singh (56 years old), a villager from Tasrauli village, was referred to the PGIMER in a precarious state of Civil Ambala hospital after he fell out of bed and remained unconscious ever since. said Dr. Sharma.
While on their way to Mukhtiar, the doctors told his family that he would not get away with it. His son-in-law Kuldeep Singh decided to donate his organs in the event of death and pbad them on to the transplant coordinators of PGIMER, he said.
Mukhtiar also died from a cardiac arrest.
Doctors have found his kidneys and kidneys. transplanted them, said Dr. Sharma.
