The Department of Health has advised that the patient has become contagious at the following locations in Lakewood:

• NPGS, 231 Main St., Lakewood between 9:00 am and noon October 25, and between 2:15 and 4:45 pm October 29
• Pizza Plus, 241 4th St., Lakewood between 12:30 pm. and 15:30 on October 28

Anyone who has visited the above premises during specific periods should contact a health care provider immediately. The highest risk is for people who have not been vaccinated or who have not had measles.

The highly contagious disease causes symptoms such as a rash and a high fever. , cough, runny nose and watery eyes. According to the Department of Health, the measles virus can be transmitted by coughing, sneezing or contact with the mucus or saliva of an infected person.

The State Department of Health is working with the Ocean County Health Department to identify and warn people who may have been exposed when individuals were infectious.
