There are known racial and ethnic disparities in the number of head injury deaths (TBI), and a new study has now determined whether there is a link between TBI mortality and a person's place of residence. American veteran. The study found that among veterans with TBI, mortality was higher among those living in the United States than on the continent, as reported in an article published in Health Equity .

Clara Dismuke-Greer, Ph.D., co-authored the article entitled "Geographic Disparities in Mortality Risk in a Racial Sample of US Veterans With Traumatic Brain Injury". and colleagues from the Ralph H. Johnson Medical Center of the Department of Veterans Affairs (Charleston, South Carolina), the South Carolina Medical School (Charleston), the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Utah (Salt Lake City), the Wisconsin (Milwaukee) Department of Medicine of Veterans Affairs (Washington, DC) and Health Management Associates (Washington, DC).

The previously documented higher mortality among TBI-related Hispanic veterans appears to be related to life in the US territories. Researchers in this study have expressed concern about potential differences in the quality of health care between US territory and US territory.

"Too often, veterans are grouped into a large group, although a number of issues are cross-cutting and important for all Veterans, it is also important to recognize health experiences. and, in this case, the adverse consequences that may exist for the subgroups. This work also highlights the need for innovation and awareness to improve health in a group having an alliance of care because of their courage and their service ".
