Lexus is working on a super SUV to compete with Lamborghini Urus?

In October of this year, Lexus unveiled the LX Inspiration Series, which failed to inspire SUV consumers. We have not yet seen it in person at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this week and give our final evaluation, but a new report already evokes a much more inspiring model from the Japanese manufacturer.

According to the Japanese Spyder7 Lexus is working on a flagship SUV that should compete with the mighty Lamborghini Urus. It is certainly a fairly ambitious goal, but in its basic form, the high-performance crossover will be equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 bi-turbo engine supported by two electric motors for a combined power of more than 424 hp.

Even more intriguing, a sportier F version could also be used with a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo V8 engine. In this new application, the engine should not less than 661 hp or more than the 641 cd of Urus.

The Japanese publication also states that the flagship SUV will be based on the LF-1 Limitless concept (photo: gallery below) from January of this year, which was later revealed as a preview of a new SUV with the "potential to shape the future of a flagship luxury crossover". The production version of the vehicle should use elements of the platform of the study. The super-SUV production could carry the name LQ

The initial report, brought to our attention by The Drive also claims the new Lexus. SUV flagship will significantly reduce the Lambo Urus. The Italian beast costs around $ 200,000 (around £ 155,700), while Lexus aims for a cost of around $ 150,000 (£ 116,800). The machine is expected to debut in 2020 and sales are expected to start in 2021.
