idea very 80s, think again -you. Director Arun Gopy conveys the idea that in the 21st century, negativity and hate can be fueled when it comes to members of two different communities trying to start a life together. At the same time, ideas about how women are perceived in our society and on other social issues are treated with audacity and humor.
Baba (Manoj K Jayan) is an old gift, very bitten in the Goa today, where he runs a family on the beach with his family and a few hangers. His son Appu (Pranav Mohanlal) wants to avoid his father's ties with the underworld and has just run his water sports business on the beach. Pranav's natural reticence adapts to the role of a young man who moves away from the stupidity of his father; a role that Manoj K Jayan plays well. A bold malayali broods on their New Year's night. Things are changing in their lives.
Although this seems to be a complete movie of Pranav, the first part is actually centered on the star of the newcomer. And Racheal alias Zaya plays his role well, not afraid to do the audacious with aplomb. The second half, however, belongs to Pranav with all the action sequences and he does a competent job. Kalabhavan Shajohn as Abusi and Dharmajan Bolgatty as Godwin play their roles in their usual style. Gokul Suresh also makes an interesting appearance in the second half of the film.
While the film takes a refreshing look at social issues – child abuse, women's expected behavior, religious issues and even the impact of social media on our lives – the first half takes place very slowly . The suspense at the limit of Arun Gopy's first project, Ramleela, is missing. You think the two halves could have been made with a stronger edition. Even the humor does not have much impact.
The film can be a punctual watch to capture young actors and for the refreshing characterization of the female lead role.
