A new report claims that the next iPad Pros could shrink and lose their headphone jacks

A new report from the Japanese supply chain site Macotakara (via 9to5Mac ) suggests that Apple could refresh its range of iPad Pro models by narrowing them a bit, and eliminating the 3.5mm headphone jack, much like the recent iPhone models.

The site notes that it is possible that the range of next year sees its dimensions decrease slightly – the 10.5-inch models could have 247.5 mm in height, 178.7 mm in width and 6 mm thickness (250.6 mm in height, 174.1 mm in height and 6.1 mm in thickness), while models of 12.9 inches can reach 280 mm in height , 215 mm wide and 6.4 mm thick (which is currently 305.7 mm in height, 220.6 mm in width and 6.9 mm in thickness.)

The report also suggests that the iPad will come with FaceID – something we've already seen rumors since the end of 2017, and that has been confirmed in a recent iOS 12 beta. Macotakara notes that the feature will not work in landscape mode, and that as a result, Apple could move the lightning connector from the bottom to the when the iPad is vertical, and as a result, the smart connector for the keyboard could be shifted down near the Lightning connector, which means that the tablet could be designed to be used vertically.

The report also states that there could be some changes coming to the iPhone range, noting that a 6.1 rumored LCD model will feature a "full active" display with four narrow glbades, and using a "Japan Pixel Eyes" sensor. It is badumed that the next phone will be a bit cheaper than the iPhone X from last year.

Apple is expected to hold its annual launch in September, where it will unveil updates for its phones and tablets, and we will no doubt see more rumors and leaks in the near future.
