A sigh of relief for citizens as fuel prices continue to fall

Citizens are right to rejoice as fuel prices dropped again on Sunday.

In New Delhi, the price of gasoline was reduced by 25 paise for retail at Rs. 81.74 per liter, while diesel is sold 17 paise lower at Rs. 75.19 per liter.

The price of gasoline in Mumbai was reduced from 25 pesetas for retail to 87.21 rupees per liter, while diesel is sold at 78.82 rupees per liter after a reduction of 18 weighed.

Fuel prices have skyrocketed in recent months in the country, making a hole in the pockets of commuters. While the opposition has repeatedly accused the Center of the sharp rise in fuel prices, the latter has maintained that world prices for crude oil and other international factors are responsible for rising prices for petroleum products.

According to India's pricing mechanism, domestic fuel prices depend on international fuel prices over an average of 15 days and the value of the Indian rupee.

On October 4, the Minister of Finance, Arun Jaitley, intended to cancel a reduction of Rs. 2.50 per liter on the prices of gasoline and diesel, after having reduced fuel prices by Rs 1.50. per liter. He had also called on all state governments to cut rates.
