  Airtel to Add 10,000 New Mobile Sites, 2000 KM of Fiber in West Bengal NEW DELHI: Telecommunications Operator Bharti Airtel announced Tuesday that it would make significant investments for the deployment of 10,000 new mobile sites in West Bengal and will begin deploying mbadive MIMO technology in Kolkata.

The mbadive MIMO technology would be deployed in major business centers and residential areas of the city, which will increase the network capacity from 5 to 7 times on the same spectrum, announced the Telco. . Airtel said its VoLTE traffic in Kolkata is growing strongly.

The planned deployment will increase by 35% the number of mobile sites in the state of West Bengal, bringing the total number of sites to 38,000. Airtel's optical fiber footprint in the state will reach 17000 km with the addition of 2000 km of fresh fiber deployment.
