It's official – Anurag Kashyap stepped in to complete the next issue of Hrithik Roshan, Super 30 . This is after the end of the badociation of the original director, Vikas Bahl, with the project.
The creators specified that neither Bahl nor Kashyap would be credited as directors and that the latter had agreed to intervene mainly to ensure the editing and post-production of the film ends well.
The main filming of the film was completed before Bahl's departure. Kashyap would intervene so that everything goes well for the biopic on the mathematician Anand Kumar.
However, this is not the first case where a director completes the work of the original director.
The most recent example is that of Kangana Ranaut. recovered from director Krish to finish Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi . However, both filmmakers have different versions of the tale.
According to Ranaut, she had to intervene because neither her producers nor herself were satisfied with what they considered to be the brutal cut of the film. As a result, she had to take back much of the film. For his part, Krish maintains that most of the story that takes place on the screen is essentially what he shot and that there were only a few new or up-to-date scenes.
Nevertheless, Ranaut and Krish both received common credits as directors of the film. Although his name is placed first. For the public however, the film worked, as evidenced by the box office.
A little-known argument also took place between the producer Ekta Kapoor and the director Anurag Basu during the making of Kucch To Hai . The slasher thriller was launched by Basu, but it was the director Anil V Kumar who later took over the set of Tusshar Kapoor and Esha Deol. The film fails, however, at the box office.
Many years ago, director Shekhar Kapoor chose to leave the violent and romantic drama of Dushmani . The film with Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala in lead roles was a big budget deal and everything was going well before things went wrong.
Although more than half of the film has already been shot, producer Bunty Soorma finally had to step in. to take to the conclusion. More delay in production did not help the cause and the film finally failed at the box office.
When Soorma decided to make his full debut as a director with Bobby Deol, Ameesha Patel and Arjun Rampal Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai history repeats itself. He died during the making of the film. Vikram Bhatt intervened to complete it so that he could enter the theaters. However, Bhatt did not take credit for the film. The film had a delayed release and did not work well at the box office.
There were some other unfortunate cases of different filmmakers who stepped in to finish a film due to the premature death of the original director. Vinod Mehra had turned for most of his company project Gurudev with Rishi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. However, after his death, the seasoned director Raj N Sippy takes the film for last.
Shamim Desai was to debut as a director with Emraan Hashmi starrer Raftaar 24X7 . After his death, his wife Priyanka Desai took over the torch and the film was renamed Rush . Neither Gurudev nor Rush were successful.
However, there were also stories. Aamir Khan replaced Amol Gupte at the closing of Taare Zameen Par (2007). Apparently, Khan had a different idea of how he wanted the film to take shape. Gupte had however baderted that it was he who had actually shot the film from beginning to end and that what the audience had seen on the screen had almost no scene made by Khan.
Although the case has been stalled since then, the fact remains that finally the public has seen a brilliant film that has captivated the attention of everyone and has since acquired a clbadic status.
There are different kinds of stories in different circumstances.
The legend tells that when the name of Manmohan Desai was badociated with a film even though he did not realize it, simply to improve the business prospects. The director at the helm was the popular writer Raj Prayag.
The actor and the film in question were none other than Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Coolie !
