Apple has a patent that describes an interesting way to wirelessly transmit the load between devices. A new patent application published by the USPTO details Apple's plan to bring a true wireless charge and involves a coil that could transmit bidirectional current.
One of the drawings accompanying the patent description shows a MacBook with multiple charging points that can act as a node to transmit power between the MacBook and two or three other devices such as an iPhone or an Apple Watch. In theory, Apple could work on implementing the same wireless charging coil on both an iPad and a MacBook that could then transfer the charge to an iPhone X or an iPhone 8 with an exhausted battery. One of the most important things to remember here is that Apple does not sell an iPad or MacBook with built-in induction coils for wireless charging.
If Apple turns this patent into a product that works, it would not only bring a new charge to an exhausted iPhone, but also a form of wireless charging. One of the cases of using this technology could be to stack devices and let them wirelessly charge. Depending on whether it is placed in front of or behind the other device, the device would either charge or be charged.
Few questions remain unanswered, especially if the devices need to be stacked on the MacBook, as this would make the laptop unusable, but the idea of plugging only the MacBook to a wall outlet For the least, this can be extremely useful when traveling abroad eliminating the need to carry several different chargers.
It is however not clear immediately how Apple plans to equip the wireless charging coil. Apple was relatively late in adopting wireless charging and joined the Wireless Power Consortium consortium last year, adding wireless charging to iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhon. e8 Plus announced in 2017.

At the event last fall, Apple also introduced a wireless charging mat called AirPower Mat, which would allow users to charge three devices – iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods – at the same time. The company has not yet released the device and there are reports of Apple who have trouble making the product. Now, this new patent shows that the iPhone maker has an even more serious wireless charging technology that could revolutionize the charge in the future.
