Indices rose due to the purchase of value with globally positive global indices.
The 30-share Senbad ESB ended up 385 points higher at 35423, while Nifty NSE made 125 points at 10,714 points.
Tata Steel, Reliance Industries, Yes Bank, Larsen and Toubro and Bajaj Auto were among the top winners in the Senbad pack, while Hero MotoCorp, IndusInd Bank, Mahindra and Mahindra, HDFC Bank and Asian Paints were the big losers.
Abhijeet Dey, Senior Fund Manager-Equities, BNP Paribas Mutual Fund, said: "The benchmarks closed in green on Friday as investors ignored their concerns and decided to buy shares at lower levels."
