Poké My GO Fest is starting its second day in Chicago, and although I'm not here this year, it seems like it's a much better time than last year. People started catching Celebi after what seemed like a fairly short and specific Questline park-spe search yesterday. One step was to catch 10 Unknown and so you can be sure that Niantic would not force players outside of special events to complete this one: all the Unknowns I've ever met were at GO Fest. last year, and I've never seen it in the normal world. We are in the second day of GO Fest right now, and so the second round of players are getting their first chance at the new creature. The exclusivity will not last so long: Celebi will see a global version at some point, and probably soon. We do not have an official date yet.
Last year, participants at Poké my GO Fest were theoretically going to get the first crack at Lugia, the first legendary raid of the game that started at the event. After the technical difficulties had derailed the grand unveiling, Niantic just launched the whole thing at once, even though the attendees got the awesome bonus of a guaranteed hold, something that was not enough. Anyone trying to catch a legendary can appreciate.
Will Celebi arrive as fast as Lugia? Probably not. But I'm expecting him to see him this month at least, so he will not start next week. Pokémon GO is still expanding during this summer tour, and at this point it seems like there are new developments to be written at least every week. We will let you know what is the Celebi's quest line as soon as it is posted
