CM talks about defense and steel with Tatas

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Tuesday proposed to the Tata group to create a defense manufacturing cluster and a downstream steel cluster in Odisha.

These proposals were put forward by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. meeting with the president of Tata Sons Natarajan Chandrasekharan at the state secretariat here.

"Tata Advanced Systems may consider developing the defense manufacturing cluster on 871 hectares of land in Naraj owned by Tata Power," suggests Naveen. the state government had provided the land to Tara Power in Naraj to install a thermal power plant.

The Chief Minister also proposed to the Tatas to consider developing a downstream steel cluster at Kalinga Nagar in the Jajpur district with liquid metal. Tata Steel has installed a steel plant of six million tons per year in Kalinga Nagar, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister

Later, Chandrasekharan, director of Tata Sons, accompanied by the CEO and General Manager from Tata Steel, TV Narendran. "The capacity of the steel mill will be increased from six million to eight million tons with an investment of Rs 25,000 crore," he said.

Chandrasekharan said that he would visit the Bhusan Steel Factory in Dhenkbad, which was acquired by Tata Steel.

"Another Rs 35,000 crore will be invested in this plant," he said. "Tata Steels has a very significant presence here."

At today's meeting, Naveen also presented several proposals, including the establishment of an electronic vehicle project by Tata Motors, a Petroleum Chemicals manufacturing unit. and Petrochemicals

He also asked for more investment in the manufacturing sector of the Tata Special Economic Zone in Gopalpur in Ganjam District.

The Chief Minister also invited the Tatas to participate in World Skill Center projects. He also asked Chandrasekharan to speed up the establishment of the superspeciality hospital of 500 beds for the benefit of young graduates of the state. Sitalapalli in Ganjam District and urged to speed up the payment of crop insurance claims to state farmers.

Elie Chandrasekharan thanked the Chief Minister for his focus on rapid industrialization and job creation.
