When Apple introduced portrait mode on the iPhone 7 Plus almost two years ago, it has become a much sought after and sought after feature.

A phone that could give your photos that coveted look of a chic and expensive camera? It looked like a dream come true.

Since then, other premium smartphone manufacturers have added functionality to their own devices. The Samsung version calls Live Focus, and Google has added its own version of the technology to both Pixel and Pixel 2 sizes.

I am not a professional photographer or even amateur, but I am not a photographer. like to try to capture beautiful pictures on my smartphone. I wanted to test this feature on three of the best smartphones: the iPhone 8 Plus, the Pixel 2 XL and the Galaxy S9.

Over the course of a few days, I tested the function in all kinds of conditions and situations, such as low light, indoor and outdoor light, and busy backgrounds. While the three phones had their own strengths and weaknesses, one phone was the most consistent.
