PATNA / GAYA: Dengue fever has reached alarming proportions in this state. The number of people suffering from the disease transmitted by mosquitoes reached Tuesday the figure of 671.

At least 33 of the 38 districts are in shock from a mbadive epidemic of dengue fever. Public health facilities in the state capital are struggling to cope with the surge of dengue patients.

According to official figures, 450 dengue cases were reported in Patna alone and 56 in Siwan.

"Nearly 80 people visiting the hospital for the Elisa test are tested positive for dengue fever every day. Most of the patients come from the urban areas of Patna, "said Dr. Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, General Manager of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH).

"Kankerbagh is the most affected locality in the city. At least 150 people were tested positive for dengue in the locality. At present, 35 dengue patients are undergoing treatment with PMCH, "added Dr. Prasad.

In addition to the PMCH, other public and private hospitals also face the influx of patients positive for dengue fever. Dr. Chandrashekhar, Medical Director of the Medical College and Nalanda Hospital, said, "The number of people with dengue fever is increasing. Every day, a diagnosis of dengue fever is diagnosed in at least 15 patients. "

Apart from Kankerbagh, cases have also been reported in other areas, such as Boring Road, Anisabad, Agamkuan, Gulzarbagh in Patna City and Machuatoli in Ashok Rajpath, said a health official.

Kalyani Trivedi, a consultant (district malaria control office) (vector-borne disease), reported that five teams had been formed to proceed with nebulization in the urban areas of Patna. "The department also conducts outreach programs in urban and rural areas to prevent the spread of the disease," Trivedi added.

According to sources in the health department, in addition to public hospitals, 55 people have been tested positive for dengue in various private hospitals in the nation's capital in the past two months.

The dengue virus also affected Gaya district, where fogging has not yet started in many localities.

Dr. A N Rai, director of the Abhay Institute of Medical Sciences, Gaya, reported that dengue cases were reported in the urban and rural areas of the district.
