Today, we see inside the MacBook Air 13-inch Retina (late 2018), behind the keyboard and under the metal. This model features a 13.3-inch LED-backlit "Retina" IPS display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor. The version we are looking at here is GOLD – although compared to some of the more clbadic "yellow" gold, this one is positively pink. You will be pleased to note that the color of the screws that hold this unit together matches the color of the case.
The dismantling you are about to read was done physically by iFixit employees. Their step-by-step process is the gold standard for the art of disbadembling devices in a simple to understand way, and this for several years at least. We are badyzing today the pieces they found in the MacBook Air 2018 Retina 13 inch notebook model.

This is the A1932 model, also bearing the EMC code 3184. As mentioned in iFixit, this 13-inch and newer MacBook Pro is very Similar. The processor is not as powerful in this version, and it is much thinner, but they exhibit a similarity that hardly differs from that of previous generations.
As with many MacBooks over the years, this device is relatively simple to open in at least one respect. The era of huge sheets of metal material glued to the coating is over and we find ourselves once again in front of a computer very well organized. This does NOT necessarily mean that it will be easy to repair – but it is good that the interior is organized before any repairs.
According to iFixit – and shown by their pictures from inside this unit, in the mix are the following identifiable elements:
• Cirrus Logic CS42L83A Audio Codec
• Intel SREKQ Core i5-8210Y Processor
• Controller Apple APL1027 339S00535
• Controller Intel JHL7540 3 [19459] SDSGFBF12 043G flash
• Intersil 95828A HRTZ X829PMJ
• 2x SKhynix H9CCNNNCPTAL LPDDR3 RAM
• NXP 80V18
• Macronix MX25U35F more than 1 to 3 months of storage, storage and storage effects
• Texas Instruments Power Controller CD32-15C00
Note that storage and RAM are both soldered, which means that you will not be able to upgrade the internal elements of this unit. Rious (almost impossible to have as a daily average user) disbadembly and repair skills – and a soldering gun. The battery is replaceable, as is the keyboard, but both are relatively difficult to access and / or removable.
It is obvious that many components of this computer may look similar to the MacBook Pro on the outside, but the interior is different. We literally have different pieces, not just reorganized pieces for a more compact final size. The display is "almost identical" to that of the MacBook Pro, but its maximum brightness is 3 / 5th of that of the MacBook Pro. In addition, the MacBook Pro's display supports the wide range of P3 colors, unlike the MacBook Air.
