Square Enix announced yesterday that Dissidia Final Fantasy NT was receiving a new free version called Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition .
The free edition does not include Story Mode, Treasure, or some Rush Battle courses. It is rather focused on the online component of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT . The Free Edition players will be able to fight against the players of the full game, but you will need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play online.
Another thing to note about Free Edition is that the characters are rotated alternately. That said, there will always be four characters to play, one of each type of character. Even after the characters become unusable, your stats and stats will be saved so you can continue your progression the next time that character is back in rotation.
People who find a character that they particularly like can buy it individually to be able to use it at any time, at the usual price of 800 yen for DLC characters.
