The bad version of the Ninja 400, the Z400 was unveiled at the 2018 EICMA and, like many other Kawasaki motorcycles, the Z400 could make its way to the Indian market.
In terms of style, the Z400 follows Sugomi's design philosophy and draws inspiration from its larger siblings like the Z650 and Z900. The headlights, although they are not as threatening as the Z650 and Z900, are a full LED deal with a group of digital instruments.
In terms of mechanics, the bare bike shares its components with the Ninja 400. It is powered by the same twin 399cc engine developing 45 hp and 38 Nm of torque coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension functions are managed by a conventional telescopic front fork and a rear shock, while the braking power comes from a 310 mm disc at the front.
The bicycle is also equipped as standard with a clutch clutch system and a two-channel ABS system. The Z400 world clbad weighs only 167 kg, 1 kg less than the Ninja 400.
If the Kawasaki Z400 arrives in India, it will compete with KTM 390 Duke, BMW G 310 R and Benelli TNT 300.
