Ford India recalls 5,397 EcoSport units to repair faulty parts

Ford India announced today that it was recalling 5,397 units of its popular EcoSport sport utility vehicle to repair defective lower front control arms as well as driver and front pbadenger seat locks.

EcoSport produced at the company's Chennai plant between May 2017 and June 2017 numbering 4,379 units are inspected for the integrity of the lower control arm weld before, the company said in a communicated.

"The weld strength of some of these vehicles may be lower than Ford's specification, which in rare cases can potentially affect steering control," he adds.

A control arm badembly connects the front suspension of the vehicle to its frame.

The company also indicated that it also wrote to the owners of 1,018 EcoSport vehicles, manufactured between November 2017 and December 2017, to inspect their cars for the driver's and front pbadenger's door locks.

Voluntary inspections are consistent with the company's commitment to providing quality vehicles to its customers, said Ford India.
