Google pays homage to French playwright and actor Molière & nbsp
Commonly known as Molière's stage name, Jean-Baptiste Poquelin was a French playwright, actor and poet deceased today, in 1673. Born of Jean Poquelin and Marie Cressé, daughter of a wealthy bourgeois family, on January 15, 1622, Molière worked in comedies, farces, tragicomedies, comedies, ballets, etc. His work has been translated and adapted in almost all major languages.
Molière's father was a successful furniture maker, but he refused to join the family business and joined the theater in the 1640s. After a financial crisis, Molière's breakthrough occurred in 1658 when he and his company perform before a royal audience at the Louvre Museum. Molière often writes and plays with the authorities, who try to censor his work. Tartuffe, a satirical interpretation of religion, is immediately banned by the court of King Louis XIV.
