Google has deployed "Caller ID and Spam Protection" on its phone application with which the application itself would be able to filter detected calls as spam, eliminating thus all notifications and alerts for these calls. ] "You will always see filtered calls in your call history and will be able to check all the voicemail messages you receive," the search engine giant wrote in a support message on Friday.
The new features will work on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and above. To use "Caller ID and Spam Protection", the user's phone may have to send information about calls to Google. Caller ID and spam protection are enabled by default, but users can choose to disable them. The option to disable it is available in the Settings area of the Phone application.
