Huawei and Samsung could create a new trend in 2019

It is hard to deny that 2018 has been a niche year with all other OEMs increasing the screen / body ratio of smartphones with slotted screens. But 2019 could bring new trends and, it seems, the notches do not seem to set the trend next year. Samsung and Huawei set a precedent that marks the end of the notch, but it remains to be seen how other manufacturers react.

Samsung introduced new Infinity displays at the recent developer conference and one of the ideas was hole in the display for the camera. Samsung calls it the Infinity-O, which would be integrated into the future Galaxy A8 smartphone. But Samsung's main rival, Huawei, is not going to let out the thunder and has announced his first teaser of a smartphone with a hole in the screen.

Huawei shared a poster on Weibo, which shows the silhouette of a smartphone. with a camera on the screen and many believe that the handset in question is the Nova 3S. The launch date on the poster is December 12, which could mean that Huawei will be the first to launch a smartphone with a hole in the screen for the camera.

Naturally, the Nova 3S will be truly without a telescope, sliding camera or pop-up camera, because the front camera will be placed in a hole in the upper left corner of the screen. The accompanying text on the teaser roughly translates to "Selfie Full Screen Portrait", which clearly highlights the Nova 3S's full-screen camera and display capabilities.

More details about the Nova 3S are currently unknown, but we can expect to know more about its release in China next Huawei's new phone will succeed Nova 3, launched in July.

The Nova 3S will be a premium smartphone, like the Nova 3, comes with the Kirin 970 chipset, two rear and front cameras and a 6.3-inch screen. We do not know yet how the Nova 3S will compete with the Galaxy A8 and whether these two smartphones will successfully launch a new trend in uncluttered phones in 2019. Stay tuned for updates.
