The 1.4L Hyundai Verna diesel engine is available in basic E and EX, to match the Ciaz 1.3L diesel
Hyundai introduces the new generation Verna, equipped with a smaller 1.4-liter diesel engine, available only in E and EX base versions. Hyundai also offers the sedan with a larger 1.6-liter U2 CRDi diesel engine and available only. on the higher versions SX and SX (O).
The petrol variant, meanwhile, offers the option of a 1.4-liter Kappa and a 1.6-liter larger Gamma unit. The prices of the mid-size Hyundai sedan with 1.4-liter diesel unit starts from Rs. 9.29 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the E base trim while the EX version is priced at Rs. 999 000 (ex showroom).
Hyundai launched the new Verna sedan in India around August of last year, but they added this smaller 1.4-liter U2 CRDi diesel unit to help those looking for a diesel sedan within the limits from a budget.
The new 1.4-liter U2 CRDi diesel unit produces about 90 P peak power at 4000 rpm and 22.4 Kgm of torque available between 1500 and 2750 rpm. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Verna competes directly with rivals like the Honda City and the Maruti Ciaz, who also benefit from a 1.5-liter and 1.3-liter diesel engine respectively.
However, Hyundai is the only manufacturer that offers the option of two diesel engines under the hood of their sedan. Hyundai presented an anniversary edition of the Verna Sedan in September of this year, which was offered with unique features. There is no doubt that La Verna has become a revolutionary product for Hyundai.
The new generation of Verna is based on the K2 platform and offers additional features like a sunroof, a rear curtain and six airbags. (on top trim), environmentally friendly coating for AC vents and rear parking sensors. Now, adding this new diesel variant will help the sedan to boost its popularity and reach more customers by offering them more options.
