iBall launched Aasaan 4, a feature phone designed for seniors. The simple mobile phone for the elderly offers features that are easy to use and accessible quickly in case of emergency. Interestingly, the phone could also be used by other people, including people with disabilities, in varied situations thanks to its versatility
The Indian electronics and mobile phone manufacturer, iBall, are launching the fourth generation of Aasaan phones. These phones are certainly not the big-screen smartphones that most companies manufacture. However, the Aasaan 4 is an interesting and attractive device not only for the elderly, but also for people who are looking for a simple device offering basic but useful life-saving communication features.
iBall Aasaan 4: Features
The most notable feature of the feature phone is the extra-large keyboard. The keyboard offers physical keys, but it's not a full QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard is increasingly rare to find the type T9 which includes several alphabets on one key. Incidentally, the number keys and the numbers printed on them are quite large. iBall has ensured that the keys are clearly legible for the old ones.
In addition to the big keys, iBall has even enlarged the numbers displayed on the relatively small screen by 2.31 inches with large fonts. iBall even offered Braille symbols on keys for people with visual impairments. Interestingly, Aasaan 4 also offers a "talking keyboard". Essentially, the keyboard loudly announces the supported figure in English, allowing even blind people to easily use the phone. In addition, iBall ensures that it has increased the audio output on Aasaan 4.
The critical feature of iBall Aasaan 4, which greatly enhances its appeal, is the call feature of Aasaan 4. urgency and a dedicated SOS button. Pressing the button activates a loud siren to alert people or people nearby in case of emergency. Women who often have to travel alone or on dangerous roads will certainly find this feature useful. iBall also offers a simple mobile tracking feature. Essentially, the function alerts a designated contact if someone replaces the SIM card.
iBall Aasaan 4: Specifications
Being a mobile phone, iBall Aasaan 4 does not contain any powerful hardware. However, it contains several important features that a communication device intended primarily for the elderly must have. The multi-function phone supports touch buttons for phone lock, LED torch and wireless FM function. The user interface has been designed to be very simple and easy for older people with physical limitations.
The mobile phone can take up to 32GB micro-SD card. iBall has not confirmed, but it is highly likely that the phone can offer a simple music playback application. There is also no information on the internal memory. However, iBall confirms that Aasaan 4 can hold over 200 text messages and 1,000 contacts independently in the phonebook.
One of the strengths of Aasaan 4 is without a doubt its huge battery. Despite being a feature film, iBall has installed a 1800 mAh Lithium-ion battery in Aasaan 4. Being a simple phone with a screen of only 2.31 inches, this battery can easily last several days without recharging. iBall has not confirmed the standby time available with this battery. Needless to mention, this is a crucial feature not only for the elderly but also for the people who are traveling.
iBall Aasaan 4: Price and Availability
iBall launched Aasaan 4 feature phone at Rs. 3,499. The price seems a bit steep for a feature film. Several companies, including Reliance Jio, offer 4G phones at very attractive prices. However, iBall offers a phone that addresses a niche market with limited but specific and unique needs. Aasaan 4 is only available in white color.
