What is Sim Hijacking?

He claims to be the owner of this SIM card and says that he lost the SIM card. When he needs to provide the basic information to activate the SIM card, he has already got this detail from the owner via social engineering or any other method. So, the service center of this service provider thinks that he is the true owner and is blocking your original SIM card. and activate another SIM card with the same phone number.

So now the hacker has access to the phone number, he can easily access and reset each account connected to this number. As; bank account, PayPal, social accounts, Amazon account etc. He can access these accounts, as he has the phone number, he can also receive the OTP too.

Solution:

Never share details such as identity card details, pbadport details, and any other details required for verification purposes. Each network service provider has a specific support number.

Never trust a call claiming to be your network provider unless it comes from this support number. If you belong to a state where biometric authentication is required to activate a SIM card. So do not worry, you are immune to the exchange of SIM cards. But always be careful.
