At present, those of us who have Instagram public profiles do not really have a way to get rid of boring followers quietly. They can be blocked, of course, but when you do that, they can not access your profile, which quickly leads them to discover that they have been blocked and potentially confronts you about it. You can also set your profile on private, but many users would prefer to avoid doing it simply to stop the harbadment of some unsavory people.
Users with a public profile may have a new option to get rid of unwanted commentators. The company is testing a new feature that will allow public profiles to remove subscribers, just like private profiles. The Verge has contacted Instagram to ask him about this feature when some Android users have noticed the new feature.
Instagram has confirmed that such a feature is well under test, but that's about all that has been said. Just like when you block someone, the people you delete from your list of subscribers will not be notified of the change. They will still be able to see your profile, they will not show up in their feed and they will not be able to comment on your posts.
So, deleting people from your list of subscribers is possible. kind of let them down easily, at least compared to the other options you have at your disposal. The scale of this test is unknown at the moment, but it seems to be limited to Android. To see if you have it, simply open your followers list from your profile page. If you see an icon with three vertical dots on the right side of each follower entry, just tap on it to bring up the "delete follower" prompt.
Assuming all this test is done going well, it will probably not be long before we see it roll out to all Instagram users. We will keep an ear on the ground for more, so stay tuned.
