Instagram Stories, which now boasts 400 million daily users, now receives the soundtrack feature on Android and iOS in 6 countries. Starting today, users will be able to add background music to their Instagram stories in the app. Users can choose from over a thousand songs available directly in the app.
How to use the music sticker? Users can tap the music icon they see when posting in Instagram stories. Select a song from the list of thousands of songs. Instagram says that a new song will be added the same day. There are also filters to search for the song based on your mood or what's popular. The user can listen to the preview of the song before adding it in the background. Instagram also allows the user to choose the song before recording a video. The feature is available for iOS and Android, but the ability to add music before recording is limited to iOS only for the moment. The company can deploy the feature globally.
One thing that Instagram is certain to lead to today is the number of updates that it adds to the platform. Being one of the leading revenue generating platforms for Facebook, Instagram makes sure that it continues to be one of the most used photo sharing apps and has therefore added many features in the last few months.
Instagram, only a few days ago, launched the IGTV application. It offers the ability to display long format videos on Instagram with a vertical orientation support. The application is available for download on the Play Store.
Facebook has also launched a shortened version of Instagram-Instagram Lite for emerging markets like India. Instagram which already has more than one billion users in India hopes to add another billion with the Lite application. Instagram Lite is 573k and is compatible with older phones with memory. The application allows you to add filters and post pictures to the stream or stories, watch stories and browse the Explore page. The ability to communicate with friends and share videos is still coming. It is available for phones running Android 5.0 or higher.
