Jay-Z named the world's first billionaire rapper, here's how he realized the massive feat

Jay-Z could have 99 problems, but not a fortune: the rap mogul is now considered a billionaire.

The legitimate title comes from Forbes, the financial magazine known for its annual wealth ranking, which conservatively estimates a ten-figure fortune, which explains its "superstar lifestyle". It should be noted that the Brooklyn rapper would be the first hip-hop artist to achieve billionaire status.

This is a title that could be challenged by fellow Dr Dre, who declared himself "the first billionaire of hip-hop" in 2014, at the time he had entered into a contract valued at $ 3.2 billion with Apple for Beats Electronics.

However, at the time, Forbes had estimated its value at 800 million USD, which is not surprising.

However, like Dre, Jay-Z's fortune is not attributed to his musical success, but to the recognition of his name. Forbes said his prowess to build an empire came from recognition that "he had to create his own brands rather than promote the brands of someone else."

Jay-Z, whose real name is Sean Carter, made his Brooklyn project debut as a drug trafficker, giving his tattered tale of riches an ever-ambitious flavor.

One can think of his business acumen when he launched his record label Roc-A-Fella to release his first album in 1996, "Reasonable Doubt".

Needless to say, several albums have been critically acclaimed (14 of which have become No. 1), as well as 22 Grammy Awards and an opinion by the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

He is also married to Beyoncé, a business shark singer, and together they have repeatedly been at the top of the charts, not to mention the lists of power couples. Together, they surpbaded the billion dollar mark in 2017.
