According to the report in BoxofficeIndia.com, the Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starred grossed Rs 10.75 crore on its first Friday. The film has till date a total business of Rs 42.25 crore in three days at the box office.
The period drama had a record opening of Rs 21 crore on its first day at the box office, becoming one of highest openers of 2019.
Kalank is a period drama set in 1945 in the pre-independence British era. It is directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios. The film revolves around stories of six characters who are connected by love and revenge.
The film brings together two of the most popular Bollywood pairings – Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt. It's a gap of 22 years that Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit are seen together in a movie. The duo was last seen in 1997 release 'Mahaanta'.
The film also features Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, and Kunal Kemmu in pivotal roles.
