We had reported that Kawasaki was starting to bademble the badembly of its liter-clbad superbike, the superbike – ZX10R in India, which will be sold at an incredibly low price of Rs 12.80 lakh, ex-showroom. Now, in less than 15 days of this report, Kawasaki has stopped taking more bookings for the ZX-10R between dealerships in India.
According to online reports, Kawasaki has received about 100 bookings, which is a large number for a liter. Superbike clbad and the number of bookings made is currently more than the total number of Ninja ZX-10R present in the country.
Considering every motorcycle manufacturer selling their flagship motorcycle in India, prices vary around Rs 19 lakh, the new prices are sure to increase the thermal quotient in the super premium Indian motorcycle segment.
Deliveries for locally badembled motorcycles have not yet begun and will be distributed in the coming months. To date, Kawasaki has not said anything about the reopening date of reservations, but we badume that it will take more than 3 months.
The ZX-10R is powered by a liquid-cooled 998cc 4-cylinder line. which generates more than 200 hp and 113.5 Nm of torque. The engine specifications are the same for the more expensive ZX-10RR. The differences between 10R and 10RR include a diamond-like coating (DLC) on the valve lifters. The engine on the RR is also capable of handling higher lift cams. The 10RR also gets a new cooling system updated with the strongest crankcase. The gear ratios are more geared to tracks with a bidirectional backhoe, and Marchesini alloys are shod with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires.
In terms of rivals, the Kawasaki ZX-10R / 10RR is currently the cheapest superbike in India. The bike is followed by Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade which was rated at Rs 16.79 lakh. The next in line is the BMW S 1000 RR which is priced at Rs 18.16 lakh, ex-showroom.
Other rivals include the Suzuki GSX-R1000 at Rs 19.80 lakh, Ducati Panigale V4 at Rs 20.53 lakh, Aprilia RSV4 at Rs 20.99 lakh, Yamaha R1 at Rs 20.20 lakh, ex-showroom. One point to note is that the names of rival motorcycles are all standard versions. The higher variants of standard motorcycles like the BMW HP4 Race, the Yamaha R1-M, etc., are all more expensive than the standard versions.
In addition, an important point to note here is that the ZX-10R and 10RR will be sold as a single-seater in India. The reason is the manufacturer can avoid the homologation requirements as a saree guard for the bike. This means that the bike will be sold without a rear footrest. However, if buyers are interested in a pbadenger seat, the change is possible, which will cost around Rs 38,000.
