RAW RATING OF THE WEEK : 1.68 (.05 IMPROVEMENT WEGK) In Memoriam: Ashley Mbadaro
That broke our hearts at the end of last week when we learned of the death of the former WWE wrestler and winner from Diva Search in 2005, at the age of 39. Here is the WWE tweet that includes an ad link on their website:
We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE superstar, Ashley Mbadaro. WWE extends its condolences to Ashley's family and friends. https://t.co/PqHSRbOGso[19659008unsetWWE(@WWE) May 17, 2019
As I mentioned, she won the Diva Search in 2005 and debuted soon after. She was the valet of WWE Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick during her stint at Smackdown in 2007. At WrestleMania 23 she challenged Melina for the WWE Women's Championship. In the next WrestleMania she was involved in a Playboy Bunnymania Lumberjill match. Mick Foley, Trish Stratus and Torrie Wilson, members of the WWE Hall of Famers, share their thoughts on Ashley and Ashley's latest tweet:
This is terrible news – Ashley Mbadaro is gone. She was only 39 years old. She lived in the same city as me … I loved to see her. She's always been so nice … and now she's gone. #RIPAshleyMbadaro pic.twitter.com/wOUY4gsTQo

Darling @ Ashleymbadaro11 [1119019] My love so much with this news . I remember being hurt and watching this beautiful charismatic and sporty girl crowned winner of Diva Search …. https://t.co/V01FeTiqvM pic.twitter.com/3wHb7eQDr2
– Trish Stratus (@trishstratuscom) May 17, 2019
I can not even begin to explain how much I am devastated to hear about @ Ashleymbadaro11 – one of the lighter people I've ever known. When we fall into a dark place, it may seem like it will never change, but if you are there, PLEASE keep hope and ask for help.

There are other wrestlers who tweeted their sincere thoughts.
On a personal level, it was difficult to take. She lived about 30 minutes from me, as did Mick Foley. I never spoke to any of them, but I almost talked to Ashley once. I was turning around on a flight back from Florida, in uniform, when I noticed her sitting in the row facing me. Later in the flight, we were on the line for the toilet ahead. I gave her those half-smiles once and she did the same thing in return. I was going to introduce myself but I was not shy. I can say however that if I had done it, she would have been very kind in return. I'm sorry I did not say hello yet, now that she's gone.
There are many reports about the cause of his death. For the moment, let us all remember Ashley Mbadaro and keep her family and close friends in mind at this very difficult time.
Arena, Results of Money in Bank Relevant for Raw Products, Items Announced by WWE and Time to Start Viewing
WWE Returns to the Times Union Center in Albany, NY, after appearing in this arena the same week in May of last year. The former stadium, which is nearly 30 years old, has hosted many Raws and Smackdowns since 1996. Ironically, as we put Money in the Bank behind us, Edge has for the first time made a cash-in here in 2006 during the New Year's Revolution on WWE Champion John Cena. Here is an excerpt from this historical event:
It was at the time and it is now. Here are the results of Money in the Bank re Raw:
- The British winner, Daniel Bryan & Rowan, winner of Smackdown Tag Team, in an untitled game
- Rey Mysterio beat Samoa Joe to win his first American Championship [19659025] Shane McMahon defeated the Miz in a Steel Cage Match
- Becky Lynch retained the title of Raw Female Champion on Lacey Evans. She would lose the Smackdown championship
- to Charlotte Flair, who would lose her to the winner of Money in the Bank in 2019.
- Seth Rollins retained the WWE Universal Championship over A.J. Styles.
- Brock Lesnar won the men's money match in the bank. Lesnar replaced Sami Zayn, who replaced Braun Strowman last week on Raw
. At the time of writing this document, WWE.com does not have its preview for tonight's show.
- Mick Foley will present the new WWE title
- We are now heading to the Super Showdown in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on June 7th.
Mick Foley presents the latest WWE title.
Last night, on Money in the Bank, we learned that Mick Foley, a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, would be on hand to present the latest WWE title. Here is the tweet illustrating this ad:
TOMORROW NIGHT: @RealMickFoley will announce the most recent championship of @WWE live Monday night ! #MITB pic.twitter.com/FSlyQj8H1G
– WWE (@WWE) [20juin1990] May 20, 2019
There is speculation that Foley could reintroduce the bad title, which existed already. 1998-2002. Foley was the inaugural champion under the award of Vince McMahon. The title had the stigma of being defended 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as long as a referee was present. Tommy Dreamer was the last HC champion and was beaten by the then intercontinental champion, Rob Van Dam, to merge those titles.
There is also talk of a version of the TV title, a championship under the NWA and possibly the WCW banner. This could result from the wild card rule, which is a title defended on both Raw and Smackdown.
We will know for sure tonight.
Analysis of Frank: That's exactly what we needed, another Title. Under the banner of WWE, there are 18 titles among the five brands. The hardcore title offered a lot of comic relief, which was funny at first, but it was getting old very quickly. I could live with the television title. In fact, I had hoped that the American Championship and the Intercontinental Championship would be merged years ago and that the televised title would be brought back. That's the last thing the WWE needs.
Brock Lesnar is now the "beast of the bank"
We were launched last night when Brock Lesnar entered the match of Money in the Bank, replacing Sami Zayn who had been attacked and tied up at the bank. We thought it was Braun Strowman who was attacking after being beaten by Zayn last week, but he vehemently denied it to Triple H.
The victory came when Ali climbed to the top of the scale and was about the height. catch the briefcase, when Lesnar's music hit. He went out and made Ali fall from the ladder. He then climbed up the ladder with amusement and grabbed the briefcase to win the 2019 Money in the Bank offer. WWE.com tweeting about it:
Attention, @WWERollins … @BrockLesnar has an opportunity WARRANTY #UniversalTitle ! #MITB pic.twitter.com/X2WoGEXEyk
– WWE (@WWE) May 20, 2019
With Super Showdown imminent, we will see if he wins for a match for the title against Seth Rollins. Here is a very sarcastic quote from Chris Jericho, former wrestler of the WWE:
Awesome to see the match @BrockLesnar win the match #MoneyInTheBank … even though he was not not officially registered! Brock is the future of business and this perfect example of a great booking shows why @WWE will stay on top FOREVER! #GoBrockGo
– Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) May 20, 2019
Frank's badysis: Jericho's tweet is the best I've read in a long time. Hey, listen, am I shocked? I'm not for a second. The odds are down, the contract with FOX is imminent and Vince is letting go of his bag. Lesnar is one of those tips. It's a shame if you ask me, when you have seven guys who are queuing for this guy to come in and do 30 seconds of work. Money in the bank is a bragging point that usually enhances someone's career. It would have been perfect for Ali, who was rumored to win the match. What are you going to do? WWE is fine, keep pushing the past and remember that your current list has no stars.
Next step for the new American champion Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio won his first American champion last night after defeating Samoa Joe in just over a minute. While Joe was preparing for a powerbomb, Rey scored and scored for a win. It seemed a bit awkward, as we later discovered that Joe's shoulder was up, but the referee missed it. Here is Joe who tweets his discontent:
There will be righteousness lest the Son suffer the sins of the Father.
– Samoa Joe (@SamoaJoe) May 20, 2019
According to some sources, the match was cut short because of Joe's bleeding after taking a smell of Rey. Heading and post-match change angles were planned according to this information. Nevertheless, we can expect this to continue.
Frank Analysis: You certainly hope that these two players will have the longer match they deserve. Nothing has yet been booked for Super Showdown, but revenge can not be ruled out. I will not exclude a short reign for Rey and Joe who are recovering the title. I was hoping that Joe had that chance, but I'm not surprised because Joe is obviously not protected by the company. The pieces are in place, but Rey's son has to pick on him, helping Joe to recover the title.
She's just a belt, but Still Raw's champion
Becky Lynch went into Money in the Bank as Both The Raw and Women's Smackdown Champions only stood out with the Raw title.
In her first game, she defeated Lacey Evans via her signature, Disarm Her. Just before applying the move, Lacey pinned Becky, but for some reason, the referee did not start counting. Becky then retaliated and disarmed, as I have already mentioned, for Lacey to be notified.
Moments later, Charlotte Flair came to challenge her for the Smackdown title, as it was planned on the map. Instead of keeping the match for later, Becky agreed to do it. They went for about six minutes and Becky lost when Lacey stepped in and gave her the women's right without the referee looking. Charlotte then hit Becky with a kick and scored the pin to win the Smackdown title and her ninth overall women's title. Subsequently, she would be lost to Bayley, winner of the MITB in 2019, who cashed her new contract.
Lacey did not hesitate to talk on Twitter despite the loss:
Here's your sandwich sweetheart 👒🥪 …extra salt. #YaNasty https://t.co/8KkGbEfwt1
— Macey Estrella (@LimitlessMacey) May 20, 2019
Becky was pretty surprising about the media social, but that could also have had a connection with his WWE 24 special show on WWE Network after last night's show, which was enjoyable to watch. Nevertheless, we will try to keep it going, but not Super Showdown, because you know … Saudi.
Frank's badysis: I'm fighting it because Bayley won and cashed MITB on the same night on the new champion Charlotte, but moves away from that prediction. The advantage is that the "2 Belts" component is finished, an angle that, in my opinion, was not viable in the long term. Becky and Charlotte are also separating now, with Becky clearly on Raw and Charlotte on Smackdown. After what they have experienced since last summer, a pause is needed. It could give them a better match at WrestleMania if, say, Charlotte wins the Royal Rumble and challenges Becky to suppose she is the Raw champion at that time. Lacey took advantage of last night as much as she could, but you have to see more. I am generally positive.
A phenomenal Burndown
In what was probably the game of the night, Seth Rollins retained the title of WWE Universal champion on A.J. Modes. The match lasted about 20 minutes and Seth won after hitting a rope knee followed by his signature Curbstomp. Here's the WWE game clip for the game:
After the match, A.J. went to shake Seth's hand. Seth first raised the headline, but later shook his hand. He explained why, in an exclusive WWE.com with Cathy Kelley:
Analysis of Frank: The fact that Seth felt good. a lack of respect towards him could plant the seed for it to continue and maybe A.J. turning on him at some point. A J. may have realized that when he returned to shake his hand, and thus in intrigue, I do not blame Seth for rejecting the gesture. Nevertheless, it was a good match and overall contributed to put the show at the lowest for me. I certainly expect more to be in the tank for this quarrel, maybe something at the Super Showdown
Firefly Haunted House?
Here is a video excerpt from last week's Firefly FunHouse, in which things took an ominous turn, as well as some information about the creator of the new Bray Wyatt look: the team of
. @TheTomSavini brings horror to the WWE with the new Bray Wyatt Creepy New Mask mask https: // t.co/hC1HsEQMMt #FireflyFunHouse @bakingjason
– Bloody disgusting (@BDisgusting) May 14, 2019
Frank's badysis: what could be done in the past Yowie Wowie? A small part of me thinks he's just revealed all his secrets and he can pretend that last week was only his inner thoughts, but I'm not quite sure. Money is on that being a part of his new heel character. I will say that everything is fine, but it must end in the ring. We have seen many of these scary things fall flat over the years. Bray Wyatt's previous gadget was certainly one of them.
Not Announced for Follow-up
As I said, WWE.com does not have their insight, but here are some other items to look for on Raw Tonight:
Follow-up of the Usos-Revival feud
Mojo Rawley defeated Apollo Crews last week. Apollo arrived via the rule of the Wild Card
Baron Corbin defeated Ricochet last week. Both men participated in the MITB ladder match last night.
Nikki Cross won a fatal four-man match involving Raw's women in the MITB match. Last night she said that she wanted to be like Alexa Bliss. Speaking of Alexa Bliss, she was removed from the match for MITB because she was not medically cleared according to the WWE.
