Toyota Motor Corporation announced the launch of the new Corolla Sport in Japan as the first connected first-generation car. To be available for purchase at all Toyota dealerships in Japan, Toyota will also introduce an Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) Corolla in August of this year. The sporty version of the Corolla will come with a right-hand drive system and is based on the Corolla hatchback presented at the New York Motor Show this year. The Corolla Sport also gets the newly developed sport bucket seats with improved side braces for more support.
At the bottom, Toyota will offer the Corolla Sport in two engine options. The 1.8-liter hybrid engine will produce 96 hp of maximum power and 142 Nm of maximum torque from the gasoline engine, while the electric motor will produce an additional 71 hp and 163 NM. Together, the engine will produce nearly 120 hp of maximum power, while the 1.2-liter direct injection turbo engine will produce 113 hp and 185 Nm maximum torque.
