Now a Jodhpur district collector suffering from deadly swine flu

Jodhpur district collector Dr. Ravikumar Surpur suffers from swine flu, confirmed Tuesday the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Sunil Kumar Bisht. Previously, the collector had tested positive for swine flu during a survey conducted in a private hospital in Jodhpur. The doctors administered the antiviral tablet Tamiflu in Surpur, widely used in the treatment of swine flu.

Surpur was reportedly caught with fever and colds and was himself a doctor. He suspects swine flu and consults with Arun Mathur, a doctor in a private hospital in Jodhpur. Based on the symptoms, an H1N1 test was performed when the ratio was positive. After that, the collector received antiviral drugs. He was advised to rest completely and was kept in isolation at home. Collector's office staff and staff also received antiviral treatment as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, 21 patients in Jodhpur are reported to have swine flu.

It will be remembered that the state had the highest number of cases of swine flu in the country and that the deadly disease had killed 279 people in 2017. In 2018, swine flu has already claimed 200 lives in all the state. The state capital, Jaipur, is the most affected by the H1N1 virus. About 850 people were found infected with swine flu and 37 people died of the disease until 22 October. In four districts of Kota Division, the disease claimed 65 lives this year. In the Jaipur division, 52 deaths have been reported. 31 deaths occurred in the Jodhpur division while the Ajmer division recorded 30 deaths due to swine flu since 1 January 2018.

It should be mentioned here that the H1N1 virus in the state has changed its strain called the Michigan strain allowing it to be active in high temperature conditions like Maharashtra. Last year, 3,619 people were declared positive in Rajasthan for swine flu.
