The National Program for Improved Technological Learning (NPTEL) on Monday launched an eight-week online training course to train the country's doctors for tuberculosis (TB), a disease whose incidence is estimated at 2.79 million cases in India

"We believe that this is the first course of this nature dealing with a specific disease of importance to public health in India, we hope that it will benefit the doctors treating tuberculosis patients and will help them deliver better quality care to their patients, "Professor Andrew Thangaraj, NPTEL coordinator at IIT Madras, said in a statement.
The "Managing TB Online" course is comprised of video lectures, case discussion scenarios, and video demonstrations of laboratory procedures.
