Nvidia would have four new series 11 graphics cards sometime during the year, according to an insider leak.
YouTube Gamer broadcaster Meld claims to have received an email from one of Nvidia's main partners that specifically mentions the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1180, 1180+, 1170, and 1160 by name with the following dates:
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1180 (release date August 30)
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1180+ (release date September 30)
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1170 (September 30 Release Date)
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 1160 ( October 30 Release Date)
The e-mail was also explained to explain the GTX 11 series was delayed due to a 10xx GPU overstock. Apparently, this forced the company to return to the production of the 10 series to sell its remaining Pascal graphics cards.
Something smells like fish
there is nothing to confirm the authenticity of this email. Since it would be easy to write an email containing personal information and to redact some parts, we will take this news with the largest grain of salt.
There are also some glaring holes in the narrative e-mail states. For example, although most dates coincide with Nvidia's usual Tuesday or Thursday launch schedule, the September 30th launch date for the 1180+ and 1170 falls on an unusual Sunday.
The 1180+ GPU shown in the email is also another dilemma, which could refer to third party cards or overclocked cards. But that in itself would also be strange, as it implies that custom cards will be released a month after the first Nvidia Founders Edition GPUs. In the past, third-party cards were always broadcast next to the reference graphics cards
The only thing that seems to match what we know so far is the brief mention of a conference call on the 21st August, which is the same Gamescom debut – exactly where and when Nvidia is supposed to make its big announcement for Turing GPUs.
