By 2018, smart phones seemed to have evolved in one of the two most extreme directions.
Some have introduced radical designs: the pop-up window of the Oppo Find X, the second screen located at the back of the Nubia X, Honor and Xiaomi's sliding-key phones – which immediately attract attention, but may not be practical.
The new collapsible phone from Samsung? Pah, these guys did it first
others are iterative updates – such as the iPhone XS and the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 – which gives them almost the same. impression of being at the same phone as at the first (or even second) look. OnePlus 6T is in this last camp. With the same processor, hardware, and design language as the 6-month-old model 6, the 6T is a minor upgrade to what was already an excellent handset.
Design and Material
Here's what's new with the 6T. It has a smaller notch than the 6; the screen and the battery collided up to 6.4 inches and 3700 mAh (as against 6.3 inches and 3300 mAh); and the fingerprint reader is now integrated under the screen instead of being at the back. It's just about everything. Everything else is the same: Snapdragon 845 with 8 GB of RAM; glbad in front and behind; and a single cursor button to Android to switch between normal, silent or vibrating.
The package as a whole still feels very luxurious and the frosted finish of the "Midnight Black" color gives it a beautiful matte finish that is also more resistant to fingerprints.
But the defects of the 6 are still present: there is only one speaker grid to trigger from the bottom and the audio output is relatively low; the OLED panel is not as bright as the others; and the phone does not support wireless charging despite the return of the glbad.
Software and Features
This is where the OnePlus shines. The company's Android skin, OxygenOS, has long been my favorite software (that's pretty much the mainstream consensus of Western media) and the latest version is as brilliant as ever.
That is the extent of the customization options (it is possible to change the full color palette of the phone's menus); useful gesture shortcuts (you can control music playback directly from the screen off, without having to wake up the display beforehand); or thoughtful usability keys (apps in folders appear at the bottom of the screen for easier scope), software experience is easier and less intrusive to use than any other solution.
Perhaps most importantly, the skin of the operating system works
Performance and battery life
Always OnePlus phones have always been at speed and 6T, with much RAM and optimized software optimized to give priority to fluidity, perpetuate the reign of society, which offers the fastest smartphone on the market.
Other advanced phones are not slow, but everything runs faster from one second to the next on a OnePlus device. Even the built-in fingerprint reader – a relatively new technology that still has some drawbacks in terms of usability – seems faster here than on other phones.
The camera material is unchanged from that of the 6, and in daily shots, I can not distinguish photos produced by the 6T and the 6. This is not inevitably bad news: the 6 was already a capable shooter, opting for a slightly exaggerated contrast and lighting that makes the photos vivid.
Holographic Display Phone, Hydrogen One, Launched by Red
For dimly lit photos, OnePlus introduced its own AI-badisted long exposure mode, called "Nightscape". Huawei is at the top of the ranking for this feature and its implementation is even better in terms of apparent focus nowhere.
Night shots on the OnePlus 6T have improved, but only when they are viewed on the handset. At first glance, on a phone screen, they almost always appear "better" than the photos taken by the iPhone XS. When you zoom in on the details on a larger screen, the iPhone image has retained more detail and natural colors
. Still, most people take pictures for social media, which are then viewed by other people on the phone. So, maybe OnePlus finally has the right idea in addressing this group rather than to photo-purists.
Impressive, the 6T can record videos in 4K / 60 frames / sec – what the best Huawei and Google phones can not do. The footage is sharp, but the stabilization takes a hit if the user moves. If you can place the 6T on a tripod, the 4K / 60fps format is a valuable addition for videographers.
The larger 6T battery means longer life. The 6T lasted a whole day on a single charge in four of the five days for which I tested the phone, with an average screen time of five hours.
Conclusion [19659002] For years, OnePlus phones were the best value for money in the industry, as anyone with the same power sold their phones at a much higher price. high, and phones in the same price range generally offered lower specifications.
But Xiaomi and Huawei – perhaps after success in the areas of budget and premium, respectively – intensified their efforts to enter this "medium-high" market this year. The Xiaomi pocophone, for example, offers the same Snapdragon 845 as the 6T, but costs more than $ 200 cheaper. The Huawei Honor brand sells its Magic 2 with an even more powerful Kirin 980 processor, at about the same price – US $ 547 – as the 6 T.
The OnePlus 6T is a better and more polished phone than these two offers, but the competition becomes very difficult. OnePlus still has a major advantage in North America because its Google-centric software is widely preferred and has been successful in securing the support of US operators. But in Europe and Southeast Asia, Xiaomi and Honor bite into the OnePlus pie.
