OnePlus 6T: Should OnePlus 6 users upgrade to a new flagship phone? | technology

OnePlus 6T is not really an important upgrade from OnePlus 6 in terms of specifications. The latest flagship smartphone, however, comes with a new screen design and nice features like a built-in fingerprint sensor on the screen. But are the new features compelling enough for OnePlus 6 users to be able to upgrade? Let's compare the two smartphones OnePlus

OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6: Design
OnePlus returned to the drawing board to design its new smartphone to fit into a smaller notch and include a fingerprint sensor in the screen. While OnePlus 6 was more like a redux OnePlus 5T with a glbad back panel, OnePlus 6T has undergone significant design changes.

One of the main differences between the two phones is that OnePlus 6T is more compact, with dimensions of 157.5 x 74.8 x 8.2. mm while OnePlus 6 measures 155.7×75.4×7.75 mm. The horizontal width from one edge to the other has decreased on the new phone, but its thickness has been increased. OnePlus 6T weighs 185 grams, about 8 grams more than its predecessor.

On the front, OnePlus 6 features the traditional boat-shaped notch that houses the LED indicator, the front camera and the mic. OnePlus 6T has a smaller and curvier notch that just houses the front camera. The company also removed the LED indicator from the new phone, while the mic was moved to the top edge. The OnePlus 6T also has a slightly larger screen of 6.41 inches compared to the 6.28 inches of OnePlus 6.

OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 are not much like the back. Although the new phone does not have the fingerprint slot dedicated to the back. As previously stated, OnePlus 6T has moved the fingerprint sensor under the screen.

OnePlus 6T vs. OnePlus 6: Features
OnePlus had made grand statements about the fingerprint sensor on the screen. The problem is that the sensor is inconsistent. It sometimes takes several tapping to recognize the fingerprint sensor. OnePlus 6 may have the old-fashioned fingerprint sensor, but it was fast enough.

OnePlus 6T also removes the 3.5mm headphone jack to make room for the fingerprint sensor on the screen. If you have not migrated to a wireless ecosystem, it can be tedious to get used to a phone without a 3.5mm headphone jack. OnePlus 6, however, keeps the plug.

OnePlus 6T vs. OnePlus 6: Camera
OnePlus did not change the camera resolution of its new phone. The OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T are equipped with two 16 megapixel and 20 megapixel dual rear cameras. They also use the same Sony IMX 519 sensors for the primary and Sony IMX 376K for the secondary. Other key features of the rear camera include PDAF, 4K resolution at 30/60 frames per second, and automatic HDR mode, among others.

OnePlus 6T debuted with a dedicated Nightscape mode and a set of software optimizations. OnePlus is already deploying these features on OnePlus 6 phones with the latest firmware updates.

OnePlus 6T vs. OnePlus 6: Performance
The OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T models feature the same combination of RAM and processors: a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC processor and up to 8 GB of RAM. Both phones also offer similar performance and more or less face the same software problems as those mentioned in our detailed badysis. One of the minor differences is that the basic model of OnePlusd 6T is endowed with a higher storage of 128 GB. The battery is also slightly larger: 3700 mAh, against 3300 mA.

Verdict
If you use OnePlus 6, you do not need to switch to the latest OnePlus phone. On the front of the camera and the performance, both offer a similar experience. In fact, OnePlus 6 users benefit from the 3.5mm headphone jack, an essential feature of the new phone.
