New Delhi:

The railways have just launched their first engine with aerodynamic and ergonomic design. "With a speed potential of 200 kilometers at the hour, this WAP-5 locomotive is energy efficient and stable for high-speed operations," tweeted the Ministry of Railways.

The engine was produced by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works and will be used for trains like Rajdhani Express, Gatiman Express and Shatabdi Express.

The railways will also test the country's first 18 free train, train 18, for testing.

Train 18 is considered the successor of the 30-year-old Shatabdi Express Driven by a self-propelled self-propelling unit without a separate locomotive, the train is capable of driving at a maximum speed of 160 km / h.

The sleek prototype of 16 locomotive-free cars will reduce journey time by 15%. compared to Shatabdi.
