Red Dead Redemption 2 India The release date may be deferred

The release date of Red Dead Redemption 2 in India may be delayed. The long-awaited open world adventure of Rockstar Games will take place on October 26, but India may have it a few days later. Several customers have informed Gadgets 360 that the stores in which they had pre-ordered had warned them that they had received "special instructions from Rockstar" asking them to send the game only to the release date. The Indian distributor of Red Dead Redemption 2 is E-xpress and its warehouse is located in Mumbai. This means that if you do not live in Mumbai, you may not be able to play on time. As the game came out on Friday, those who are outside of Mumbai could have it on Saturday or Monday at the earliest.

This evolution follows the report of the Kotaku gaming blog about independent gaming retailers in the United States who do not receive Red Dead Redemption 2 on the day of release. Incidentally, larger chains such as Gamestop and Best Buy will sell the game a day before. In India, however, it seems that only some gaming shops have been informed of this delay. Neither Rockstar Games nor its distributor E-xpress responded to Gadgets 360's request for comment on a possible delay in the game. The stores that spoke to Gadgets 360, however, confirmed that this was the case.

Nevertheless, this is not new. In the past, Rockstar has put in place strict restrictions regarding the release date in India. GTA V on PS3 and Xbox 360, for example, was shipped late due to "publisher regulations" at the time. And before that, GTA IV had been delayed due to a shortage as India was not a high priority market at the time. Judging by the restrictions in place, it seems that little has changed.

There are exceptions, however. Other games such as WWE 2K19, for example, came out early in India. Instead of going out on October 9, it was put on store shelves starting October 5th, due to a street break in the Middle East. It is only if Red Dead Redemption 2 is leaking early and Rockstar allows distributors to release the game because of that, is there a slight chance that this will not happen? And before thinking of buying the digital solution, get ready for a 90GB download, which breaks the FUP of most Indian players.

2018 was a disappointing year for Indian players in terms of availability. God of War on PS4, for example, saw its special editions postponed for logistical reasons. Spider-Man saw another exclusivity for the PS4: Sony inexplicably canceled its Steelbook variant, even though retailers could take pre-orders. We were still waiting for the company to remain informed of when it would actually arrive.
