The film, released in China after Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Andhadhun, saw better attendance than the latter. Sridevi's husband, Boney Kapoor, also shared an emotional message on Friday. He wrote, "Mom is free today in China. A moment of emotion for me. Thanks to Zee Studios for airing Sri's latest film to such a large audience. I hope people will connect to the movie there too.

Mom was due to go out to China on March 22nd. The film also stars Akshay Khanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Pakistani actors Adnan Siddiqui and Sajal Aly.

Mom was Sridevi's last film in the lead after his death in February 2018. The film was hailed by the critics and garnered huge applause from fans. He has won two national awards: best actress for Sridevi and best background music for AR Rahman.

The film has already been released in Poland, the Czech Republic, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Singapore.
