We know that Sushmita Sen lives her life in her own way. The former beauty queen is one of the most apt in Bollywood and is known for taking fitness seriously. In a recent interview, she revealed that five years ago she had been suffering from a life-threatening illness. In 2014, when she finished filming her Bengali movie 'Nirbaak', she became seriously ill and the doctors could not figure out what was wrong with her. She was rushed to the hospital after fainting and it was only after a battery of tests that the doctors realized that her adrenal glands had stopped producing a major hormone, cortisol.
The doctors said that Sushmita was fortunate to be able to recharge after fainting since she had entered an adrenal crisis, which often resulted in the closure of organs one by one. The actress said that after regaining consciousness, doctors told her that she would depend on steroids for the rest of her days. This meant that she should take a medicine every eight hours to stay alive because her body was not making it all by herself anymore. This eventually resulted in weight gain, loss of bone density and body hair, high blood pressure affecting Sushmita's mental and physical health.
