The first production model of the SUV is already out and Tata has also officially unveiled its exterior design. According to reports, the launch will take place in January 2019 and it will be presented to the media by the end of December.

According to Autocar, the delay in the automatic transmission is due to limited supply constraints. . The demand for the diesel-auto version of Harrier is expected to be strong in the market when it's launched. Instead of delaying the launch of this product, he simply delayed the release of the automatic variant.

The automatic variant could directly debut Harrier's 7-seat seating version. After its debut on the 7 places, the automat will enter in the variant with 5 places. So expect the diesel-auto variant to be launched by the end of 2019.

At launch, Tata Harrier will only be offered in 2WD version. The AWD will later debut with the 7-seater version, which will eventually come in the optional 5-seater version. The 7-seater version also gets a powerful version of the 2-liter Kyrotec diesel engine at 170 BHP.

The Kyrotec engine is basically a refitted version of the popular 2.0-liter Multijet diesel engine. The Harrier engine is equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger, which reduces latency while accelerating and gives more torque. The engine emits 140 BHP max. and peak torque of 300 Nm.

The engine also supports a terrain response system, which could be delivered with the system AWD. Other safety features will include 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Traction Control, ESP, Descent Control, Hill Control and a dedicated off-road mode.

Tata Harrier uses the new OMEGA platform. This platform is a localized version of the D8 platform used in Land Rover vehicles. That's why you might find a bit like the Range Rover Evoque. Harrier is the first to use the new platform.

According to information disclosed, SUV prices on the road will be between Rs 16 Lakhs to Rs 21 Lakhs. Thus, ex-showroom prices could start at Rs 14 Lakhs up to Rs 21 Lakhs. At this price, it aims outright against Jeep Compbad and Mahindra XUV5OO.
